A simply question really. Why can't the 49ers get it together? Why? They only lost one player (Antonio Bryant) who missed half the season anyway. And he was not exactly one of a kind. They could get another player like him. Heck they have one, they just don't use him (I'm looking at you Ashley).

In no particular order:
1. Lost Norv Turner
2. More difficult schedule: Last year the 9ers played the lowly AFC West (and still managed to get destroyed by both the Chiefs and Chargers) and the lowly NFC North (which only had one +500 team-Bears- and three teams that finished worse than the 9ers. This year they face the AFC North (one of the top divisions in football with 3 playoff contenders) and the NFC South. So far they haven't played any of the easy teams in those divisions, and instead have played the two toughest (Steelers and Ravens).
3. Larry Allen got old and sucky
4. Frank Gore had a fluke year. He's good, but not that good.
5. Alex Smith injury.
6. Manny Lawson injury.
7. Vernon Davis injury.
8. Darrel Jackson has been a bust. Not worth the 4th round pick (by the way, the Patriots got Randy Moss with a 4th rounder)
9. Nedney. He gets paid to hit 52 yard field goals and he didn't.
10. The 49ers AREN'T officially bad yet. They played two of the best three defenses in the league and were clearly unprepared for the Seahawks blitzing. They didn't play well against the Cardinals and Rams, but they played well enough to win.
